One site at Fiskerstrand
Rebuilt three times around what customers were buying.
The company
A family seafood business at Fiskerstrand on Sunnmøre, processing and supplying Norwegian seafood since 1918.
Our history
Brødr. Remø AS operates from a single site at Fiskerstrandvegen 168, half an hour from Ålesund — one of the principal Norwegian ports for the export of fishery products. Twenty-nine people work here. The company in its present form was founded in 1985, on a business that began in 1918 and took in its first fish in 1923.
Four generations of the family have run it. That is a long enough period to have traded herring, klippfisk and saltfish through the first half-century, to have moved into salmon and trout as Norwegian aquaculture grew, and to have rebuilt the plant three times around what customers were actually buying.
What we do ourselves
Filleting, portioning, smoking, curing, desalting and packing are carried out at Fiskerstrand under our own food-safety system and our own establishment approval. Where a product is traded rather than produced by us, the specification page says so — every specification on this site carries a provenance statement.
How we specify
The product pages set out the variables a seafood specification is actually written on — form, trim, grading system, weight basis, packing and cold chain — so a request can be priced without a round of clarifying questions. Sizes, packing and specifications are confirmed at order confirmation, against your written specification where you have one.
